OMG, we have a doctor in our area whose last name is Owusu who is originally from Ghana. I wonder if she is, too? Wikipedia says it's a tribal name from Ghana, of the Akan people--in fact, it's one of the most common surnames or given names for the Akan. It means, "strong-willed and determined," (given names: male, "Owusu," and female, "Owusua"). I know, more than you ever cared to know. Sorry, names and their origins are one of my foci of interest as an Aspie, as are linguistic cognates.
