The fandom moral high ground in full display mode, and this was only posted recently too. When will people just let others enjoy what they want to enjoy?
Head-ache inducing rant that reminded me of why I tend to stay away from certain areas of fandom. Nothing substantive, nor anything you haven't read or heard before. (Example? "Fans forgave Spike everything he did to Buffy once he got a soul, how dare they! They are so stupid! Stupid! I say. Stupid!" and "Fans said Buffy brought the attempted rape on herself -- this makes me crazy! How dare they! They are evil! Evil! I say. Evil fans!" (okay I'm paraphrasing.))
Have to say, that was pretty much what I was expecting. Hence my decision not to watch. Seen/heard it all before and have now got to the I-know-what-I-think-and-I-don't-care-what-you-think stage where stuff like this is concerned.
I had to turn it off after a couple of minutes. She's doesn't seem to be saying anything substantive about the fandom, just complaining about people who disagree with her interpretation.
I'm sure I could come up with 7 things that fans say that are not actually in the show, but I'm not going to listen to 15 minutes of somebody's screed. If she wrote hers down in bullet points, I might be able to find something I agree with.
The weird thing is, if she's not talking about Spike, she actually writes some very interesting meta. (She's been linked on the Herald many times.) Once Spike enters the picture, though, she just loses it.
